The Humanities Exchange, the Publisher of Edible Architecture: Flights of Fantasy in Gingerbread, is devoted to enouraging understanding and mutual respect among cultures around the world.

Through publications and the development and touring of museum exhibitions, The Humanities Exchange assists a worldwide audience of museums, art centers, universities, libraries, corporations, foundations and other cultural organizations. The fields of interest include the visual arts, history, science — all of the humanities disciplines.

Founded in 1981, the Humanities Exchange is a non-profit, tax exempt organization that advises and works with public and private institutions and individuals in Europe, North America and Asia, and acts as a liaison in the coordination of high quality exhibitions for tour to non-profit cultural and educational institutions.

Shirley Reiff Howarth, the Director of The Humanities Exchange, is an art historian, and former museum director and curator who has worked with museums for over 35 years.

Edible Architecture: Flights of Fantasy in Gingerbread, is the first in a series of publications focusing on holiday traditions around the world.
